Swimming

Government guidelines state that by the time children complete primary school they should be able to swim 25 metres.

The school schedule swimming lessons for all children in Year 4.

They consist of a 45 minute lesson each week, delivered by specialist swimming teachers at the Aspire at the Park.

 

Swimming Guidelines for Parents/Carers:

Before going swimming, all relevant medical information must have been shared with the school, especially with regard to asthma.

Swimming costumes must be ASA regulation type. Boys wear trunks , not shorts and girls wear one piece swimsuits, not bikinis.

No Jewellery may be worn.

If your child has a verruca it is recommended that they are covered by a waterproof sock

Hair must be secured off the face at all times by a clip or a band, if not a bathing cap should be worn.

2021 โ€“ 2022 Results:

45 pupils in the cohort (21 boys & 24 girls)

  • 15.56% of pupils can swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.
  • 15.56% of pupils can use a range of strokes effectively.
  • 15.56% of pupils can perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situation

2022 โ€“ 2023 Results:

49 pupils in the cohort (22 boys & 27 girls)

  • 22% of pupils can swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.
  • 22% of pupils can use a range of strokes effectively.
  • 22% of pupils can perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
